March 2, 2014

Fire crews from multiple departments were called to 23557 Range Rd in Bloomfield Township this evening for a structure fire. The call came in around 9:30pm.

The two story single family residence has substantial damage, according to the Bloomfield Fire Chief on scene. Although the exact cause is yet undetermined it is likely that the blaze started in the furnace area.
The fire crews arrived on scene and quickly had the fire under control, however the furnace and chimney were located in the middle of the home which allowed the flames to spread from the center outward and upward.

The family was home at the time of the blaze but were able to escape unharmed.

The first packets from Project "Human Moment" were delivered this evening...

Several companies were called to 12674 St Hwy 98 in Meadville shortly before 6pm this evening for a garage fire.

When the call was originally dispatched it was feared there was entrapment, but it turned out that Tom Mason, the owner of the property had stopped working on restoring vehicles around 4pm and was visiting with neighbors.

Tom noticed traffic slowing down on the road and went outside to investigate. It was then he saw that his garage was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly got the blaze under control and were able to keep the fire from spreading to the residence. The garage which contained several tractors, a 1987 corvette and tools, is a total loss.

The structure was heavily involved in flames when the first crew arrived on scene and it quickly spread to the entire building.

No one was in the structure at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.

The black smoke filled the air as a stack of tires began to burn. The firemen scrambled to remove any tires that they could before the situation got worse.

There is no word at this time as to the cause of the fire.

Clean Car Crash

Feb 25, 2014

A little excitement at the new car wash in town today around 4pm. An elderly driver apparently confused the accelerator and the brake pedal upon entering the car wash.

She sped through the building missing the Car Wash Employee and all of the interior components of the car wash system. A vehicle which had just pulled out of the exit of the wash was impacted and both vehicles ended up a significant distance from the impact site.

Neither driver was injured but one passenger was taken by ambulance to Meadville Medical Center as a precaution.

The Car Wash remains open for business and was not damaged.

Flooding Concerns are Reduced

Feb 23, 2014

Concerns for flooding in Meadville are greatly reduced as the water levels and ice dam move away from Lupher's Landing this morning.

The difference in the water level from the bottom of the bridge is substantial from the day before.

Water levels near Wilson Shute (near Rt 322) and Route 19 South near Geneva are right at the road's edge, but so far both roads remain open.
