Meadville Apartment Building Demolished

Crews worked in tandem today to demolish the apartment building that was the site of the Jan 28th fire.  Although the cause of the blaze is still yet undetermined, the building was deemed to be too unsafe to allow it to remain standing.

As some of the former residents looked on, the two backhoes made short work of the historic building. The main portion of the remains were demolished within 2 hours and clean up will continue.

The fate of the property is still uncertain

Apartment Fire in Meadville

Several families are homeless this evening after a fire broke out in a multifamily apartment building at 6pm this evening at 390 Chestnut St in Meadville near the intersection of Liberty St

At least 8 Fire Departments were called to the blaze in the sub zero temperatures. All residents home at the time of the incident were successfully evacuated.

At 6:35 the command ordered the evacuation of all firemen in the structure.

Shortly after this evacuation, the flames became visible from the outside.

At this time a cause is unknown and the building appears to be a total loss.

Titusville Home Fire

Titusville, Hydetown, Pleasantville and Cherry Tree Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 630 S Franklin St in Titusville around 8:15 this evening.

No one was home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.

Lt Lhuillier of the Titusville Fire Department stated the home was a total loss and unininsured although the tenants do have renter's insurance.

Fireman fought the blaze in extreme low temperatures and Sheetz in Titusville provided the firemen hot coffee to help them warm up. 

Titusville was called back a second time in the wee hours of the morning for a flare up.

Jeep Fire Vernon Township

Vernon Central fire department responded to a vehicle fire a little after 9 am this morning.

The fire had been put out by hand extinguishers by the time the firemen arrived on scene and the car had been pushed away from the building to prevent the fire from spreading to the welding shop.

Electrical issues are the suspected cause of the blaze. The vehicle was parked and unoccupied when the fire broke out and there were no injuries reported.

Foust Rd Fire

A chimney fire in the early morning had crews out in the bitter cold.

The fire was contained to the stove pipe in a detached garage and was quickly dealt with by the fire departments on scene.

No injuries were reported and there was no fire damage to the structure.

Head on Collision on S Norrisville Rd

a head on collision involving two vehicles sent three people to the hospital shortly after noon today. 

Summit and Hayfield Fire Departments,Conneaut Lake Ambulance, Stat Medevac and Pa State Police responded to the call.

Two patients were transported via ambulance to Meadville Medical Center and one patient was extricated from the wreckage and flown to UPMC Hamot.

No word at this time as to the cause of the accident or the condition of the occupants.

East End School Sprinkler Break

A sprinkler break on the second floor of 640 Walnut St, formerly the East End Elementary school in Meadville this afternoon.

Currently the facility houses a portion of the Crawford Central School Districts administrative offices, as well as Head Start and is the new home of the YMCA gymnastics program.

The building was evacuated and no one was injured. The water made its way to the first floor as well.

Meadville Central Fire and Meadville Ambulance along with Crawford Central School District Maintenance  Departments responded and quickly got the situation under control.

Coldest Day for Meadville Fire

A fire broke out in the early morning in the frigid -11 degree temperatures at 233 Boileau Place in Meadville.

The multifamily residence was evacuated and no injuries were reported.

The fire was primarily contained to one apartment on the second floor and a space heater malfunction was suspected.

Meadville Central, West Mead 1 & 2, Vernon Central and Saegertown Fire Departments were called to the scene.

Hollis Rd SUV Accidnet

Single Motor vehicle accident on Hollis Rd Meadville near the intersection N Watson Run Rd

SUV lost control coming down Hollis Rd and spun 180 degrees striking a tree on the drivers side.

5 people were in the vehicle, 3 needed extrication

Vernon Central Hose, Meadville Ambulance and Vernon Township Police were on scene.

2 patients were transported to Meadville Medical Center and one was transported to UPMC Hamot via air.

No word at this time the condition of the injured.

Conneaut Lake Fire

Five companies responded to 12236 Comstock St for a two story single family residence fire.

The fire started in the back room on the Second floor and the second floor appears heavily damaged and fire has moved into the first floor,

Two dogs and two cats were rescued by a neighbor who broke the front door to save the animals. One cat is still missing at this time.

Neighboring house also has some damage to the exterior siding.
